Active Schools Program
What Is The 'Activity Challenge'?
The
Active Schools Activity Challenge is
a nation-wide program designed to get elementary and secondary
students moving! A program that recognizes all types of activities,
keeps track of the effort and provides rewards along the way.
Truly an adventure that brings together education and fitness
in an innovative and fun way!
The challenge is to get students active
... and keep them active. By recording activities from walking,
shopping, gardening, playing, work around the house and playing
sports, students meet the challenge head on. By recording their
activities, they can even compare and see how far they have climbed
up Canada’s highest mountain – Mount Logan! Or they
can join other students across Canada in the Amazing Cross Canada
Race.
Steps,
Stairs, Stationary Bike, Whatever - One Step At A Time!
Steps, stairs, stationary bike, whatever
... as a student taking part in the challenge, just move it and
you can be a part of this fun way to keep track of your activities.
A very easy way to record your own level of physical activity
- and you can even compare progress with your class or your school!
Using
A Pedometer
Yes, yes we even have a place for pedometers
if you have one. You can record your steps taken each day and
see how far you go. And after a month or so, who knows ... you
might have even walked enough to get to Canada’s capital,
Ottawa, or maybe all the way to St. Johns in Newfoundland!
Our Active Schools program website
also offers you a chance to challenge other people, teams, home
rooms, schools and communities to encourage them to increase their
activity levels.
Come join the Active Schools Activity Challenge and you’ll
be among thousands of Canadians who’ve come to realize that
by moving one step at a time you get healthier, learn more about
Canada and get a chance to win some very cool and fun rewards!
